Amritsar- Spiritual city of India

 

Amritsar, home to Golden temple is one of the most fascinating cities of India. It is a gateway to all the travellers coming to India through the route to central Asia. As the name literally means “The pool of nectar of Immortality” is one of the prime cities of Punjab.


 It is the pilgrimage place not only for Sikhs but also for people of all religions and it witnesses umpteen numbers of tourists who visit this temple every year. This spiritual centre of Sikhs houses Darbar Sahib, the holiest shrine of Sikhs. One has to visit the temple to find the beautiful holy lake. 



 Other attractions are Wagah border, Taran Taran, Shri Durgania temple and Gurudwara Baba Atal sahib. The city is largely known as the pilgrimage centre as it is embellished with many holy shrines in and all around.


The city offers avid shopping experience for its visitors. One cannot resist the temptation of filling the shopping bags with hand woven carpets, blankets, woollen garments and Patiala salwars. The city has heir loom heritage of traditional handicrafts and handlooms.

 

Amritsar has in its platter yummy delicacies that tickle ones taste buds. The authentic North Indian food is the staple food of the city and other cuisines like Chinese, Thai, Mexican, Italian etc are easily available.
The city has rich and vibrant culture and the locals are fun loving and caring. The visitors are mesmerised by the friendly and warm gesture of the local population. One in fact experiences the divinity on tour to this holy city.
